2009 starts with a very good news for our company: UNIVERSALOVE has won the famous Max Ophüls Prize, which was given out on Saturday 30th of January, in Saarbrücken (Germany). This prize is the main award of the Max Ophüls film festival, the most important festival in german speaking territories! As you can see at the picture, the trophy matchs rather good with the film!
Here the nice jury's statement:
"A film which takes place in Marseille, Brazil, Belgrade, Tokyo, Luxembourg and New York. With "Universalove", Thomas Woschitz takes us on a grand journey and, in all locations, throws a discerning glance on love - all the confusions, the craziness and futility of love. A breathtaking, vibrating odyssey carried out to the music of Naked Lunch, which is not just a mood-enhancing soundtrack, but plays a major role. With his masterfully interwoven episodes, which follow music video aesthetics, Thomas Woschitz developed a youthful, idiosyncratic narrative style. He grants each of his characters a personal world of images, rhythm, and atmosphere. And in the end, the world, for a moment, stops still, out of so much love."
We are equally pleased that the film has now also been invited to the Berlinale (Berlin International FIlmfestival). There it will run as part of the "Perspective German Cinema" on the 15th of February. The film will also be shown during the Berlinale markt on the 5th and on the 10th of february.
UNIVERSALOVE will premiere in Austria during the DIAGONALE (Festival of Austrian films in Graz) on the 19th of March with the live version.
